I am searching for information on William Cowan, married to Abbe (sp) Cowan who emigrated from Ireland to Canada sometime between 1800 and 1845. Their daughter, born in Canada, is Annie Cowan. Any information you have on Cowans in Ireland would be helpful, especially in determining if and how they are related to the colquhouns.

My great-grandfather was Charles Edward Cowan who was named after Prince Charles Edward Stewart. My grandfather, Duncan Miller, was descended from the Celtic Earls of Lennox. The Millars/Millers were granted land in Ulster by King James VI of Scotland. My ancestor, Jonathan Miller, also spelt his name Millar. He purchase 1000 acres of land in Colerain, North Carolina. The last Miller born there was my father. Through my grandmother Miller, I am a second cousin once removed to internationally known artist Ralph Wolfe Cowan. He is on the internet. I wish I knew Professor Edward Cowan. I speak High German and heard his lecture in that language. As a Ulster-Scot, I hope to visit Coleraine, Northern Ireland one day.

I am looking for information on any Millars. My grandfather was Howard Millar. No change in spelling. We do know his family came to U.S. from County Cork Ireland. We also know of Craigmillar Castle and speaking with other Millars in Michigan we trace back to this castle. Would like to know what clans we associate with.
